Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been in business?
J & B Painting is a family owner business we established in 2003.
Do you charge for estimates?
We never charge a fee to provide an estimate for your painting project.
What kind of paint do you use?
We prefer to use Benjamin Moore paint. With over 20 years of experience, we have found that Benjamin Moore is the best when it comes to paint quality, durability, and coverage.
I want to paint my interior walls and get new flooring. What should I do first?
Putting down the floor first will keep the painted walls from being damaged during the floor installation. It will also avoid an extra cost to repaint the walls with any spots that could get marked up during installation of the new floor.
How long will your paint job last?
On average 5-10 years; however, keep in mind there are a number of factors that go into the durability of an exterior paint job on a home such as the surface, weather, etc. The weather and climate will greatly impact how long your exterior paint film will last. If your home experiences harsh, direct sunlight all summer, the paint will fade more quickly than if your home was in a shady area. Alternatively, if you experience harsh winters, high humidity, or bad storms, your paint could fail sooner and cause the exterior paint film to age at a faster rate.
How long will it take to paint my house?
The project can take as little as 4-5 days from the time we connect with you. The actual timing will depend on the condition of your paint surfaces, the type of work required, our schedule and weather conditions if the project involves exterior work.
Do I need to move everything from the rooms before you paint?
Unless agreed otherwise, we will move and protect all of the furniture, etc.
When I get different bids from several companies, they are never the same, some high, some low. Why is there such a price difference?
The cost of a job is generally determined by the level of thoroughness, attention to detail, and quality desired. It costs more to properly prepare a surface for painting than to just pressure clean and scrape the surface. The majority of the cost of painting is in the surface preparation and the labor involved in the application of the paint and not the actual cost of the paint itself. Generally you get what you pay for.
What if it rains while you are painting my house?
We keep a close eye on the weather and weather forecasts. If it starts to rain while we are in the middle of a painting job, we stop and return after it dries up.
